Long-Rumored Keith Urban/Lainey Wilson Duet Has A Release Date: When Keith Urban and Lainey Wilson posted a relatively innocuous video of Keith picking Lainey up curbside and dropping her off at the airport for her trip to Australia, speculation began that the innocent video might be setting something up - perhaps a collaboration between the two superstars? Now we know that is exactly what's on the way. Both artists posted a clip to their Instagrams Friday, revealing that a new duet featuring the two, "Go Home With You," will be coming out May 3 - this Friday.
Darius Rucker Adds Jennifer Nettles To "Never Been Over": Darius Rucker's album "Carolyn's Boy" came out last October, and on the album was a song called "Never Been Over." Last week Darius dropped a clip of the track captioning it "This is one of my favorite songs I've ever written, but something was always missing...excited to say I found the missing piece and now it's complete." Now we know what that missing piece was for the country star. Released Friday, a new version of the track, featuring added vocals from Jennifer Nettles. "To have Jennifer add her incredible voice to such an emotional song, you feel even more of what this couple is facing; unravelling the life they’ve built together,” says Rucker. “I’m so grateful she agreed to sing on it with me.”
One of the biggest country music festivals of the year, Stagecoach, was held over the weekend and the stars came out in force: Indio, California played host over the weekend to one of the biggest country festivals of the year - Stagecoach. The three-day event had a veritable who's who of country stars appearing, with many of them planning surprises for the fans in attendance. Some of the big names playing the festival: Jelly Roll, Eric Church, Elle King, Dwight Yoakam, Hailey Whitters, Miranda Lambert, Post Malone, Willie Nelson, Ernest, Nate Smith, The War & Treaty, Morgan Wallen, Hardy, Bailey Zimmerman, Megan Moroney, Clint Black and many more, along with non-country performers Nickelback, The Beach Boys and Wiz Khalifa. The party was most definitely on.
One thing you can count on with this kind of lineup - surprises. It seemed like many of the performers had a little something up their sleeve, whether it was epic (MIranda Lambert bringing out Reba McEntire, Jelly Roll going back to his hip hop roots with guest T-Pain) or somewhat of a head-scratcher (Eric Church skipping the hits to play a 75-minute acoustic set accompanied by a gospel choir). Let's give you the highlights:
Day One - The big names on Day One included Elle King, Dwight Yoakam, Jelly Roll and Eric Church. Among the highlights of the day, a name many country fans won't know brought on a superstar to help him sing a classic. Paul Cauthen was joined by Lana Del Rey for a performance of the Righteous Brothers' classic "Unchained Melody." Jelly Roll joined Nickelback on one of the side stages to perform their hit "Rockstar." Hardy also joined the Canadian rock band to perform "Sold Out." Jelly then took the main stage (or "The Mane Stage," as it was dubbed) for his set, which included not only his biggest hits but some throwback hip hop classics like Eminem's "Lose Yourself" and Biz Markie's "Just A Friend." He brought out Maddie & Tae to join him on his unreleased song "Liar," and T-Pain for a duet on Toby Keith's "Should've Been A Cowboy." Jelly also brought out wife Bunnie XO and his daughter to join him in thanking fans for changing the trajectory of their lives. Then Eric Church took the stage, and, proving once again that Eric Church does what Eric Church wants to do, proceeded to launch into a 75-minute set that was half gospel (accompanied by a choir) and half songs he felt like performing (meaning, none of the hits). Some of the old-timey gospel songs included "Amazing Grace," "I'll Fly Away" and "This Little Light Of Mine" - mixed with Al Green's "Take Me To The River" and Snoop Dogg's "Gin And Juice." It was an odd set that had many fans complaining; as for Church, he would say afterwards "This was the most difficult set I have ever attempted," adding "It felt good at this moment to go back, take a choir and do that." He did close his performance with a low-key "Springsteen," but the set by and large confused many who came hoping to hear his hits.
Day Two - Included performances by Ernest, Willie Nelson & Family, Post Malone and Miranda Lambert, among others. Ernest brought out his son to sing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star;" Willie Nelson brought up Jelly Roll, Ernest and Charlie Crockett to perform with him; Post Malone had Brad Paisley join him on a medley of 90s country hits, including "Chattahoochee," Don't Take The Girl" and "Check Yes Or No," among others. He also was joined at various times by Sara Evans and Dwight Yoakam. Miranda Lambert had Reba McEntire on stage with her to sing an attitude-heavy rock block of "Mama's Broken Heart," "Fancy" and "Gunpowder & Lead."
Day Three - Included performances by Bailey Zimmerman, Hardy, The Beach Boys, Megan Moroney, Clint Black and headliner Morgan Wallen. As that was still ongoing at press time, a full update will be available tomorrow.
