Chris Stapleton was forced to cancel his appearance at the Bottlerock Festival this weekend, but the fest got a pretty great last-minute replacement.
After Chris canceled “due to a non-COVID related illness,” three-quarters of The Highwomen reunited to take his place. Maren Morris and Brandi Carlile were already on the Bottlerock bill solo, and Natalie Hemby joined them, with only Amanda Shires missing. Filling in for her was Brittney Spencer.
The group, backed by members of Brandi and Maren’s bands, performed a 10-song set, featuring songs from their debut album, as well as a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain.”
