Sturgill Simpson headed to Comic Con this weekend, and he had some big news to share. The singer announced he’s producing a new animated Netflix film “Sound & Fury.” But that’s not all. Sturgill is planning to release a album coming this fall to coincide with the film, with each song serving as a companion to an anime segment in the flick.
“We went in without any preconceived notions and came out with a really sleazy, steamy rock n roll record. It’s definitely my most psychedelic,” Strugill shares. “And also my heaviest. I had this idea that it’d be really cool to animate some of these songs, and we ended up with a futuristic, dystopian, post-apocalyptic, samurai film.”
The film is being written and directed by “Batman Ninja’s” Jumpei Mizusaki, founder of the animation studio Kamikaze Douga. Check out the trailer to the right.
