Singer Kylie Ray Harris died Wednesday in a car crash in New Mexico at the age of 30. Three vehicles were involved in the evening accident on State Road 522, which also killed a 16-year-old in another vehicle.
“We are heartbroken to confirm that Kylie Rae Harris passed away in a car accident last night,” Harris’ publicist shared. “Everyone that knew Kylie knew how much she loved her family and, beyond that, how much she loved music. The best tribute to her unmatched enthusiasm for both is to spread as much love as you can today, and listen to music that fully inspires you.”
Although details of the crash aren't know, earlier that day Harris, who was reportedly traveling to perform at the Big Barn Dance in Taos, did post on social media that she was worried about running out of gas. She tweeted, “Fuel range is 46 miles and I’m 36 from the nearest gas station. Dear baby Jesus please don’t let me get stranded in NM."
Harris released her first EP, “Taking it Back,” in 2013 and another self-titled EP this past March, which featured the song “Twenty Years From Now,” which she wrote for her six-year-old daughter Corbie.
A GoFundMe page has been created to help Harris’ family with funeral costs and a college fund for her daughter.
