As we told you, Sam Hunt is being credited with helping the plight of endangered sea turtles after he wore a vintage “Save the Ridley” T-shirt in his “Water Under The Bridge” video. The popularity of the clip sparked increase in inquiries to the sea turtle rescue and rehab facility Sea Turtle Inc. in South Texas, but that wasn’t his outright goal when he chose to wear the shirt.
“I didn’t necessarily put that shirt on with that specific cause in mind but when I found that shirt in a little shop, I thought it was really cool,” he says, noting, “but I just thought it was a cool T-shirt and a meaningful cause that if I was gonna throw on an old T-shirt, it might as well be that one.”
Sam says he has “a heart for nature and the preservation of all wildlife,” adding, “I know turtles have had a problem over the years, especially they come up and lay their eggs on beaches that people like to frequent.”
Sea Turtle Inc. wound up reproducing the shirt once again for a limited time, with proceeds going to the organization, and he hopes it helps save the sea turtles. He shares, “It’s a beautiful thing, so hopefully we can preserve that as long as possible.”
