Back in July, Morgan Wallen revealed in an interview with “Good Morning America” that after being caught on tape using a racial slur he and his team decided to donate $500,000 from the sales of his hit album “Dangerous: The Double Album” to black-led groups, including the Black Music Action Coalition. Well, a new report by “Rolling Stone” suggests that hasn’t actually happened.
The mag reached out to BMAC, the only group mentioned by name, and they said did receive some money from him, but the $500K amount “seems exceptionally misleading.” The BMAC does acknowledge receiving $165K from Morgan back in April, noting, "while we are appreciative of the money, …we remain disappointed that Morgan has not used his platform to support any anti-racism endeavors."
The mag also reached out to 56 other Black-led and Black-founded charities, both regional to Tennessee and nationally, and none of them report receiving any money from the singer. So far Wallen’s team hasn’t commented on the report but it is possible he donated the money anonymously.
