By all accounts, the Detroit Lions were on the wrong end of referee incompetence on Sunday…and reports say that the same crew will be paying a price. With less than a minute left to play, the Lions were trailing the Dallas Cowboys 20-19 and were going for a two-point conversion after a touchdown. The game-winning pass went to #68, Taylor Decker, but Brad Allen’s officiating crew nullified the score, claiming it was #70 Dan Skipper who said he was to be made eligible. The Lions lost the game…and the #2 seed, at worst, which went to Dallas. On the ESPN Spanish feed, the ref can be heard announcing #70 as eligible, but with no timeouts left and the game on the line, there was no time for the Lions to correct what the team is adamant about being a massive mistake by the zebras. As a result, insider Adam Schefter says Allen’s crew will be “downgraded,” and says it would be a “surprise” to see “anyone from that crew in the postseason.” For the record, this call wasn’t the first time this season that Allen’s crew was criticized for missed or bad controversial calls.
