The Jason Aldean controversy - which started when CMT pulled the video for "Try That In A Small Town" from rotation - went Category Five as the week went on - and when a story dominates the news as this one did, some of the adjacent stories may not be 100% factual.
Late last week, rumors were spreading that Luke Bryan had requested that CMT pull all his videos from rotation - in a sign of solidarity with Aldean. Those rumors stemmed from the satirical website Uplifting Today posting a story with the headline, "Luke Bryan pulls his videos from CMT over Jason Aldean debacle: 'Folks, it’s time for the Bud Light Treatment.'" Though anyone reading past the headline would have most likely seen this for what it is - a parody article - many people read the headline and took that as straight fact, sharing the story enough that CMT itself weighed in, with a representative for the network stating that neither Bryan or any other artist had made a request of the network to stop playing their videos.
- In other Aldean/Bryan/CMT related news, Nashville’s E3 Chophouse, which Bryan and Aldean are both investors in, posted on Twitter that it is not playing CMT. "We stand with Jason! E3 supports the small town because that is who we are! We will not air CMT at any of our restaurants until a formal apology is made and Jason’s music video is reinstated."
