As we told you, a lot of folks will be hitting the road this weekend for the July 4th holiday and it sounds like they need to be careful. That’s because according to a new poll, a lot of people behind the wheel are doing anything but keeping their eyes on the road.
A new Hancock Tires survey finds:
- 64% of Americans admit to multi-tasking while driving.
- That results in a lot of distracted driving.
- Some of the top sources of distraction include:
- Singing at the top of their lungs (24%)
- Eating while driving (21%)
- Texting while driving (11%)
- Applying makeup or even shaving (3%)
And it sounds like a lot of drivers could use a reminder about proper driving behaviors.
- 10% of drivers say they failed their first driving test.
- And even though they have passed, 13% say they still have trouble parallel parking.
- Also an issue? 14% say they brake too hard and turn too fast.
