Maddie & Tae had their first big hit with 2014’s “Girl In A Country Song,” which boldly called out the depiction of women in popular country songs, but now that they're older they realize they probably wouldn't release the same song if they were doing it today.
“I don’t think we would’ve had the guts to release that song,” Maddie Font shared on Bobby Bones’ new show “On Time With Bobby Bones. “We were so naïve.” Taylor Kerr added, “And we were just kind of guns ‘a blazin’. We didn’t know any better.”
Maddie says back then they were “so green” that they didn’t really care that folks may not have liked what they were singing about, noting, “but now, being 25, and I’m like, oh my gosh. I don’t think we would have had the courage to release that song.”
Taylor adds, “If we were to write it now, it would probably be bland, vanilla.”
