Lauren Alaina and Craig Morgan are testing their survivalist skills on the new CBS reality show which debuted last night on CBS. "Beyond the Edge” is a “Survivor”-style show that drops nine celebrities into the jungles of Panama for two weeks “where they face off in epic adventures and endure the most brutal conditions.”
Other stars making up the cast include Super Bowl MVP Ray Lewis, NBA champion Metta World Peace, supermodel Paulina Porizkova, NFL legend Mike Singletary, actress Jodie Sweetin, “The Bachelor”Colton Underwood and “The Real Housewives Of New Jersey’s” Eboni K. Williams.
This week the stars split themselves up into teams, with Porizkova and Sweetin volunteering as captains to split up the group. The first challenge that had them competing in a jungle course that included moving a heavy crate, paddling through a lagoon, and hiking through a muddy marsh, all to complete a puzzle using pieces they had to carry with them.
The blue team, which Morgan was on, took an option to skip a clue about the puzzle and take a direct route, which got them to the puzzle first. Meanwhile, the red team, which included Alaina, were able to snag the important clue to help them complete their puzzle, only to realize they had left their puzzle pieces behind. Luckily, once they got their pieces, Lauren was an expert at puzzles, which helped them solve the puzzle and win $20K, plus the “jungle version” of a spa day, which included tubs alongside the ocean, with soap to clean up.
While nobody gets voted off each week, celebrities can choose to leave, but that means they won’t earn money for their charities. Nobody decided to leave this week, although during the evening’s group meeting around the fire Lauren and Eboni got really emotional about trusting people and letting them in, while both thought about it calling it quits, they decided to stick it out.
- So, why are these stars putting themselves through this? Well, they are all playing for various charities, with $750,000 in prizes available. Each day they stay on the show the celeb earns $20K, plus they win money for winning challenges.
