Kelsea Ballerini On Getting Kenny Chesney On Latest Single

Kelsea Ballerini teams with Kenny Chesney for her latest single “Half of My Hometown." Both stars are originally from Knoxville, Tennessee, and Kelsea tells “People” hooking up with Kenny for the song was “weirdly organic.”
She says she had Kenny’s number because early in her career he sent her an “encouraging text” after he saw her name on a billboard and sent her a picture, with Kelsea noting, “I didn't even know that Kenny knew who I was."
She says when she wrote the song she thought of him and texted him at 2 am. Kelsea explains, “He was nice enough to listen to it” and he checked to make sure he could do it. She notes, “And now he is, and it makes it all the more special."
- Kelsea recently shot a video for the track, which pictures what her life would be like if she never left her hometown. “I love when a video can kind of make the song have a new meaning and bring a new life to it,” she says. “And we wanted to do that with this one, just because it is so personal.”
The video for “Half of My Hometown” debuts tomorrow.
