Keith Urban Opens Up About His Sobriety

Keith Urban has been sober for a while now but that didn’t happen until several stints in rehab, and a lot of support and encouragement from wife Nicole Kidman.
"Everyone does what they want to do to have a great time. I just realized I’m allergic to it,” he shares in an interview with the “Sunday Times.” “Someone said, ‘You have an allergy? What happens when you drink?’ And I said, ‘I break out in cuffs.’”
Keith credits Nicole, who he shares two daughters, 10-year-old Faith and 13-year-old Sunday, notes, with keeping him on the right track.
“I had to find a different way to be in the world,” adding, “I’m glad it didn’t change anything about my music," he explains. “I wrote plenty of hit songs while drunk. I wrote plenty sober. I feel lucky it hasn’t defined my creativity.”
