Keith Urban has a new number one song. The singer’s latest single, “Coming Home,” featuring Julia Michaels, tops the Mediabase Country Chart this week, making it Keith’s 24th number one single.
The tune is based around Merle Haggard’s famous “Mama Tried” guitar lick, which makes Keith particularly happy about reaching number one. “What hits me the most about Coming Home reaching number 1 is seeing Merle Haggard receive his first songwriting number 1 since 1987,” Keith tweeted. “Thank YOU to all the Haggard family!! I wish my Dad was here to see this.”
- ONE MORE THING! Keith just revealed that he’s set to appear on the upcoming season of “The Voice,” where he’ll be a mentor to Blake Shelton’s team. Check out the announcement below.
- And…A teacher in New Jersey came to the aid of Keith when she bumped into him at a Wawa convenience store in Medford, New Jersey over the weekend. Retired teacher Ruth Reed paid for snacks at the store because she didn’t think he had enough money to pay for his stuff. “I didn’t know it was Keith Urban. I didn’t think he had enough money to pay for his things so I said I would pay for it and briefly when he told me who he was and I didn’t believe it was him,” Reed told CBS3. Once she did realize who she was with she shares, “He was very gracious and let me get my picture taken with him.” Check out the photo here.
