Katy Perry Says She's Gotten "A Bajillion" Country Songs

Katy Perry is known for her career in pop music, but she started out as a gospel singer and recently joked that she’s been sent countless country music songs over the years.
During the “American Idol” finale earlier this month, Perry performed “Where We Started” with country singer Thomas Rhett and during an interview with “Extra,” she said she’s waited a long time for the right track to come along. “I love this song,” she said. “I have been sent a bajillion country songs - some of them have even been massive country songs.”
And while the 37-year-old enjoyed the collaboration with Thomas, she has no plans to do a country album in the near future. “I might get back a little bit more to my roots with that singer-songwriter side,” Perry said. “I spent so much time in Nashville just laying my musical foundation, so I’d love to continue on that path.”
