The ACM Awards aren’t until next weekend, but we already have our first winners. The organization announced that Gabby Barrett has won New Female Artist of the Year, while Jimmie Allen has taken New Male Artist of the Year.
Both artists were informed of their win via video from the show’s host Keith Urban, and to say they were surprised is an understatement. Both Gabby and Jimmie are now set to perform on the show.
- Jimmy later took to Instagram to offer his thanks for the honor. “I wish my dad was here to see this," he writes. "I wanna say Thank You @acmawards and to everyone that took the time to vote for me. It means so much to win this award.” He adds, “…This is special. I hardly ever celebrate but im gonna sit back and really take this in. Im thankful for the opportunities that I’ve been given to be in a position to win this award.”
- Gabby also shared her thoughts on Insta, writing, “God is so good and I am so thankful and blessed to be part of this country music community,” adding, “THANK YOU! Ahhh! ACM New Female Artist of the Year! 😠Thank you, thank you, thank you, @ACMawards.”
- The 56th Annual ACM Awards, hosted by Keith Urban and Mickey Guyton, airs live from Nashville April 18th on CBS (8 pm). The performances will take place in three iconic Music City venues - the Grand Ole Opry House, the historic Ryman Auditorium and The Bluebird Café.
