Jelly Roll returned to jail this weekend, but on “his terms” as his friend says in video shared on TikTok. Jelly Roll took it upon himself to return to the jail he once did time in, to perform for the inmates currently incarcerated.

Jelly Roll entered the facility with Brantley Gilbert, Struggle Jennings and others as they joked “So a bunch of ex-inmates walk into a jail…” before Jelly Roll performed his songs like “Son of a Sinner” with his band. Two videos captured the event on TikTok (here & here).

Jelly Roll has shared that its “important that we give back”, and has previously announced plans to donate $250,000 to the detention center he served time in as a youth for over three years. The funds will be used to construct a recording studio within the detention center. The singer first started making music during his own time behind bars, and is looking to help others in a similar situation.
