Garth Brooks didn’t have a Stadium Tour show scheduled this weekend, but it didn’t stop him from performing. The singer made a surprise appearance at a Detroit radio station anniversary concert, much to the delight of the adoring crowd.
Garth stopped by WYCD's 37th Hoedown at the DTE Energy Music Theatre, where he performed a 15-minute set for the 15,000 fans in attendance.
Garth performed partial versions of songs like "That Summer," "Two Pina Coladas," "The River" and "The Thunder Rolls," and “The Dance,” and with headliner Brantley Gilbert making an appearance to request “Friends in Low Places.”
"Funny how the circle sometimes completes itself," Garth told the crowd. "I came her 30 years ago with just a dream, and you guys treated me like somebody. I came back tonight with just a guitar, and you treated me like everybody!"
Thank you for surprising everyone @garthbrooks in Detroit tonight! Best @995WYCD Hoedown ever! Your 1st concert was the #wycdhoedown and you always said you would come back to play it. It was EPIC! ❤️🙏 pic.twitter.com/btSc2stGuH
