Eric Church was one of the first country artists to restart his arena tour following COVID and he’s taking some major precautions to make sure everyone is safe on the road, including, believe it or not, hiring COVID sniffing dogs.

“All of my guys and girls are vaccinated,” he shares on the podcast Country Heat Weekly with Kelly Sutton and Amber Anderson.” “As we went into these places, there were a lot of people showing up that weren’t part of our internal team, and we were having to test them. My manager had read about the (dogs) and the incredible success rates that they had. So we brought them out, and it’s been amazing.”

Eric says the whole process is “quick,” and adds, “they’ve proved themselves more accurate than the rapids can be,” noting, “I’m glad to see people are starting to use them a lot more, and it’s fun just to have dogs out there anyway.”

  • And most importantly it’s keeping his tour going, which both he and his fans need. “This tour has been a lot about healing,” Church said. “I see it. I can feel it. You can sense it in a crowd.”
  • ONE MORE THING! Eric is once again up for Entertainer of the Year at the CMAs tonight, a trophy he won last year, which meant a lot to him. “I felt a responsibility,” he says about the win. “I know what that award means to the format; I know what that means historically, and I tried to live up to that.”
