Jason Aldean has achieved his first #1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 charts with "Try That In A Small Town" - and while this is a career first for Aldean, it also denotes a first in the history of the chart. With Aldean in the top spot, Morgan Wallen's "Last Night" at #2 and Luke Combs' "Fast Car" at #3, country hits take the Hot 100’s top three spots in a single week for the first time, dating back to the Hot 100’s inception in August 1958.
The single went from "just another country single" to a lightning rod in a matter of days when CMT dropped the video from rotation, sparking a firestorm on the Internet and a controversy that drew political leaders, musicians and talking heads into the conversation.
- In related news, Brittany Aldean documented the celebration the family held for her husband's first Hot 100 #1. “Well, yesterday was a monumental day for @jasonaldean ❤️ #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart!! …A career first 🙏🏼,” she wrote in the caption of her latest Instagram post. In attendance were their close family and friends, as well as country superstar Luke Bryan.
