Dolly Parton Teams Up With Melissa Manchester For Reimagined “Midnight Blue”: Is there anyone by now that Dolly Parton hasn't sung with? With 70s and 80s hitmaker Melissa Manchester releasing her new album "Re:View" which features 10 Manchester songs re-recorded and reimagined, one of her biggest hits has been redone as a duet with Dolly Parton. "Midnight Blue," which hit #6 on the pop charts in 1975 and was the single that launched her career, is one of 10 tracks on the collection.
Cody Johnson - Real-Life Cowboy: The saying "All hat, no cattle" can not be applied to Cody Johnson. He's a real cowboy, and a good one. Johnson initially pursued a rodeo career before injuries forced him to walk away from the sport while he could still walk, turning (very successfully) to music. But he still occasionally rodeos, and he's still got game. Last week he competed in a World Series of Team Roping qualifier event in Hamilton, Texas with partner Ricky Oliver and wound up taking first prize. With Johnson on the head side and Oliver on the back, the duo roped three head in a combined time of 26.53, over two seconds faster than the second place team, which secured them a $13,700 purse and an invitation to participate in the World Series of Team Roping Finale held Las Vegas this December.
Travis Denning Announces Debut Album: He's been putting out singles and EP's for six years, and now we're finally getting a bonafide debut album from Travis Denning. "Roads That Go Nowhere" comes out May 24th. The album features 15 tracks, 12 of which were co-written by Denning. It also includes appearances by Hardy and Josh Ross.
Kacey Musgraves Debuts “Deeper Well” Candle: She's not only putting out new music, but new...candles? Kacey Musgraves announced Friday that she's releasing the "Deeper Well" candle. Named after Musgraves' forthcoming new album, the product is being dubbed the official “scentscape” of the project as it gives fans a chance to experience the rich, texturized themes within the songs using the power of scent. "This new album is an honest excavation of my own transformation the last few years," says Musgraves. "I’m emerging more centered, grounded, and trusting of myself than ever - and I knew that I wanted to create a multi-sensorial experience that cultivates self-discovery and our connection to the natural world." In other words - it smells good. The "Deeper Well" candle is available on BoySmells.com for $56 - and will be sold in retail stores worldwide, including Sephora.com, SpaceNK, and Nordstrom, in April.
