Clare Dunn Recalls Scary Lyft Incident

One June 25, Clare Dunn was out with girlfriends in Nashville when around midnight she called a Lyft driver to take her and one of the friends home. The friend was dropped off first, leaving Dunn and the driver alone in the car. Dunn immediately realized something was up when the driver refused to take the route she requested.

He sped onto a highway and then pulled over a mile away from her stop. The driver then dragged her by her collar out of the backseat and slammed her to the ground.

Dunn recalls being face-down in a ditch trying to dial 911 while he was assaulting her but she wasn’t able to. There was a period of time she was out, but when she regained consciousness she started screaming which is the point at which the driver fled.

She went to the ER for treatment. She also filed a police report and identified the driver to a detective. However, he’s still out there, despite a warrant being out for his arrest. Dunn is petrified that he’s still abusing other woman. "He's out on the street — is he doing this to someone else? Does he have a wife he's abusing? Does he have a girlfriend he's abusing like this? Because he obviously has no regard right now," she said.

Lyft has fired the driver and is helping with the investigation.
