Carrie Underwood returned to “American Idol” to serve as a mentor for the semifinals. In exchange, she got to perform “See You Again” with the remaining five contestants and her new single, “Cry Pretty.”

Each singer had to do two songs – one from Carrie’s vast catalog, and one dedicated to their moms. Here’s what everyone did:

  • Michael J. Woodard – “Flat on the Floor,” Carrie Underwood; “Still I Rise,” Yolanda Adams
  • Gabby Barrett – “Last Name,” Carrie Underwood; “I Have Nothing,” Whitney Houston
  • Cade Foehner – “Undo It,” Carrie Underwood; “Simple Man,” Lynyrd Skynyrd
  • Caleb Lee Hutchinson – “So Small,” Carrie Underwood; “Stars in Alabama,” Jamey Johnson
  • Maddie Poppe – “I Told You So,” Carrie Underwood; “God Only Knows,” The Beach Boys

When it was all said and done, it was the end of the line for Michael J and Cade. That means that Gabby, Caleb, and Maddie will be in next week’s finale.
