Carly Pearce and Michael Ray are getting hitched soon, and while she may be able to put her emotions into song lyrics, she didn’t find the words coming out as easy when it came to writing her vows."
“I found it really hard, I really didn’t expect it to be that hard!” she tells “Sounds Like Nashville.” “It was like ‘I’m a songwriter, I know what I want to say, how hard can it be?’" She adds, "But it was very hard to articulate in a short little piece to this person where they’ve taken you, what you’ve seen, your promises to them, where you want to go. It was pretty hard for me. I started writing it a month in advance.”
And it seems Carly is a little worried about how much Michael plans to write in his vows. “Well, Michael is a talker,” she shares. “I [showed Ray] how long mine is, from just far enough away that he can get a good idea to make sure his isn’t too much longer, because I figure his will be.” She notes, “nobody wants to sit through vow after vow, but I also don’t want to be like ‘You only get four sentences.”
- ONE MORE THING! Carly’s new song “I Hope You’re Happy Now,” featuring Lee Brice, drops tomorrow, and while it’s inspired by a very personal moment in her life, she was a little worried about how much she actually wanted to share. “It is hard and it is difficult to figure out how much you’re gonna tell of the story,” she shares. “You don’t want to exploit someone too badly, especially on this side because it’s on the other side of a heartbreak, with me in the chair hurting someone.”
