Brett Young’s new Christmas album, “Brett Young & Friends Sing the Christmas Classics,” drops Friday, and the idea to make the record was spawned out of Brett recording “Silver Bells” last year.

After recording the tune, he approached Colbie Caillat to do another song, and after it was done he played it for other artists, and the thing just took off.

“We didn’t know it was gonna be an ‘& Friends’ until everybody started signing on,” Brett shares. “And we got everybody we asked for, and I just tried to pick my favorite Christmas songs, the classics that I grew up listening to.”

In addition to Colbie, the album features Darius Rucker, Maddie & Tae, Chris Tomlinson and Sam Fisher, and it turns out Sam is part of one of Brett’s favorite songs on the album, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”

“It’s always been one of my favorites but the way that that turned out and the way that Sam Fisher sang on that song,” Brett says. “… I love them all, love them to death, but something about that feels a little more timeless.”
