As we told you, Charlie Daniels died last week at the age of 83, and now Brantley Gilbert has paid tribute to the late singer by performing a cover of Daniels' classic tune “Long Haired Country Boy.”
In sharing the performance on Instagram, Brantley writes, “Charlie Daniels is a legend of country music.... Put together this cover with @jessebfranklin to honor the man he was and the music he made.... Both will inspire me forever.... RIP Charlie Daniels.” Check it out to the right.

Brantley dated his wife Amber off an on for 10 years before they got married, and like his latest single, he’d describe those times they weren’t together as “Hard Days.” “When we were apart, I still remember what it was like to not have her and it’s like the one that got away,” he shares. “It’s always on the back of your mind and makes it hard to move on.” He adds, “And we’ve all got the one that got away. Mine just came back home.”
