Brandi Carlile Wins Artist Of The Year At The Americana Awards

The 2019 Americana Honors & Awards were handed out in Nashville earlier this week, with Brandi Carlile taking home the top honor of Artist of the Year. John Prine, last year’s Artist of the Year winner, took home the award for Album of the Year for “The Tree of Forgiveness,” as well as Song of the Year for “Summer’s End.”

Other winners included War & Treaty, for Emerging Act of the Year, I’m With Her, Duo or Group of the Year, and Chris Eldridge, Instrumentalist of the Year.

  • The night also featured special honors for Elvis Costello, who got the Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting, Rhiannon Giddens and Frank Johnson, who were recognized with the Legacy of Americana Award, Delbert McClinton, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award for Performance and Mavis Staples who received the Inspiration Award.
