There’s a lot of talk about women not getting enough airplay on country radio and the latest “Billboard” chart basically proves that. According to the magazine, there isn’t a single female artist in the Top 20 on the Country Airplay chart, which measures radio airplay.
The highest female artist on the chart is Carrie Underwood who comes just under the Top 20, at 22, but in the Top 60 positions, only seven other female artists are on the list.
Those artists include Mindy Smith, on Kenny Chesney’s “Better Boat,” Kelsea Ballerini, Hillary Lindsey, on Randy Houser’s “What Whiskey Does,” Maddie & Tae, Runaway June, Lauren Alaina and Carly Pearce.
