Trent Reznor may be known as the frontman of Nine Inch Nails, but lately, he’s been popping up in all kinds of projects. The rocker has delivered memorable music moments with a cover by Miley Cyrus for the Netflix series “Black Mirror,” the soundtrack for Disney and Pixar’s upcoming movie “Soul,” and even a country song.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re aware of Lil Nas X’s cross-genre smash hit “Old Town Road.” The song just got a nod for Musical Event of the Year at the Country Music Association Awards, and honor that extends to Reznor and his collaborator Atticus Ross, too.
Why? A sample of Nine Inch Nails’ song “34 Ghosts IV” was used to make the beat of the track. Reznor has acknowledged his involvement for the first time on Instagram, commemorating the nomination with a funny pic of himself and Ross photoshopped into a Brooks & Dunnpress photo. He’s captioned the post, “New world, new times…” Check it out below.
