Travis Denning drops the new EP “Might As Well Be Me” today and he says fans will notice a maturity with the new songs.
“There’s some honest songs in there, some reflective songs on where I’m at in my life, and then there’s some absolute rockers,” he shares, noting that in making the record he learned to “ignore everything else, get in the studio with people you love, and just make music that is true to you.”
Travis named the EP after the lead-off song “Red Round Here,” taking inspiration from the chorus’ opening line, “somebody’s gotta keep it red round here and it might as well be me."
“I just thought that sentence felt so much bigger than just the hook of this song and back to why I cut these songs,” he says, “it was like I might as well just do exactly what I wanna do and don’t worry about anything else and it felt like a great way to sum up all the songs on it.”
