While many folks love to travel, not everyone likes the same things when it comes to going away. All travelers are different, and a new report reveals some of the preferences travelers have, based on the state they live in.
- Kayak just released their first-ever “State Travel Superlatives Map,” highlighting the search behavior in each state to learn more about their travel preferences.
- The variety of categories include the biggest procrastinators when it comes to travel, as well as the state that most likes staycations, those most reluctant to travel, those who like to leave early and more.
Among the state travel preferences:
- In-State Explorers - Californians are the most likely to have car searches within the same state (37%)
- Staycationers - Floridians are the most likely to search for staycations (70%).
- Reluctant to Travel - Maryland had the biggest decrease in searches (-15%) from pre-COVID to present.
- Early Birds - Folks Montana are the most likely to search for an early take off for their flight (3%).
- Most Likely to Sleep In - Ohio had the least amount of early take off flight searches (.3%).
- Planners - Vermont had the least last minute searches (23%).
- Bougiest - Rhode Island residents had the highest amount of business class and first class searches (4%).
- Most Frugal - Nebraska had the least amount of business class and first class searches (1%).
- Searchin' 9 to 5 – Travelers in Washington, D.C. were the most likely to do their travel searches while at work (54%).
- After Hour Searchers - Oregon had the least amount of searches during work hours (44%).
