The ASCAP Country Music Awards took place in Nashville earlier this week, where Sam Hunt’s “Body Like A Back Road” took home the honor of Song of the Year, and Brett Young was named Songwriter-Artist of the Year for his two hits, "In Case You Didn't Know" and "Like I Loved You.”
Also honored at the event was Ashley Gorley, who was named ASCAP Country Music Songwriter of the Year for the sixth time, while Lee Ann Womack was honored with the prestigious ASCAP Golden Note Award.
Several artists honored Lee Ann in song, including Chris Stapleton, who performed "Does My Ring Burn Your Finger," Alison Krauss, who offered up "A Little Past Little Rock," and Buddy Miller, who performed "Don't Tell Me." The night's other performers included Sam, who was joined by songwriters Zach Crowell and Josh Osborne, for “Body Like A Back Road,” and The Cadillac Three, who performed “Hard Out Here For a Country Boy.”
