Randy Travis was born and raised in North Carolina - but he's so firmly rooted in Louisiana that he was recently inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall Of Fame. Something like that doesn't happen often - so how did it come about?
First, Randy Travis started his country music career as "Randy Ray" in Shreveport; his first recorded music was laid down at Paula Records in the Bayou State, and over the years his legendary career brought him to the state again and again.
Saturday Randy was inducted into the Hall in a ceremony during the annual Cajun Country Jam's Memorial Day Festival in Denham Springs. "Over the years, Randy Travis has made many stops and new fans along the way in the great state of Louisiana," Cajun Country Jam promoter Scott Innes remarked. "We are delighted and honored to have had Randy on our stage!" Travis joins music greats like Elvis Presley, Louis Armstrong, Little Richard, Tim McGraw and many others in the Louisiana Hall.
