Old Dominion’s latest single “Make It Sweet” tops the “Billboard” Country Airplay chart this week, the band’s sixth Country Airplay number one, and its fifth in a row.
“From the moment we wrote it, we’ve always felt ‘Make It Sweet’ was a special song,” Matthew Ramsey tells “Billboard.” “We feel that the song captured the spirit of this band in a way we hadn’t been able to do in the past. The guys and I didn’t know it at the time, but it would set the tone for the entire third album. Having ‘Make It Sweet’ go all the way to number one will go down as one of our proudest moments.”
Elsewhere on the chart…
- Luke Combs’ album “This One’s For You” is spending its 32nd week at number one on the Top Country Albums chart. He now has the ninth-longest reign in chart history, and the fifth-longest for a solo male artist. Shania Twain holds the overall record with 1997’s “Come On Over," which held the top spot for 50 weeks.
- Luke is also on top the Hot Country Songs chart for a 10th week with “Beautiful Crazy.”
- Brett Eldredge’s “Love Somebody” rises to ten on the Country Airplay chart, his eighth Top Ten single.
MAKE IT SWEET IS #1!!! Thank you country radio for playing this song. Thank you fans for singing and dancing along. We wrote this and recorded it all in the same day and knew we had caught lightning. This is one of the proudest days in the history of our band. #makeitsweet pic.twitter.com/s1tHcyEQcM
