Mitchell Tenpenny’s new EP “Midtown Diaries” dropped Friday, and he named the record after the area of Nashville he hangs out at the most.

“That’s where I hang out all the time. I mean, when we’re done writing songs, I go to Midtown: Winners, Losers, Red Door a lot,” he shares. “It’s just right off Music Row…So at the end of the day, it’s a really easy walk to get down to Midtown in Nashville.”

Mitchell notes that it “made sense” to name the EP after the area, since “a lot of these songs were derived from there.” “I’ve been broken up there, met my girlfriend there,” he says. “I’ve got a lot of titles from songs there.”

As for the record itself, Mitchell says, “It’s very important to me that we’re authentic,” adding, “I’ve lived this life so I’m hoping people enjoyed it as much as I did writing it, and that they found their song in it.”
