Ken Burns “Country Music” documentary on PBS has done wonders for country music sales. According to "Variety," classic country artists featured in the series occupy eight of the 20 top spots and 35 of the top 100 on Amazon’s physical media charts. What’s more, 14 of the top 80 spots on iTunes all-genre album download chart are “Country Music” spotlighted acts.
When it comes to specifically country charts, every single album in the Top 20 on Amazon’s country album sales chart is connected to the documentary, while the same can be said for 60 of the top 100 on the iTunes country albums download chart.
Among the albums getting the biggest bump are the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s 1972 record, “Will the Circle Be Unbroken," which is at two on Amazon’s all-genre chart, while Willie Nelson’s 1970s album “Stardust” is at three, followed by docuseries soundtrack at four. “Stardust” is also at nine on the iTunes all-genre album chart.
