As we previously told you, Garth Brooks decided to cancel his 2021 Stadium Tour for the health and safety of his fans, and he opened up about the decision during his weekly Facebook Live series “Inside Studio G.”
Calling it one of his “hardest” conversations he’s had to have with fans, but Garth insists “it was the right decision to make,” adding “even though it’s not my favorite decision.” He also reiterated that the decision to cancel was all his.
Garth understands that fans are disappointed the shows weren’t just postponed, which means they’d lose the seats they have but he had a good explanation. He said with the second wave, and more bands canceling shows, it’s making it harder to rebook to 2022, and they couldn’t postpone because they aren’t able to guarantee any dates for next year.
Garth also reminded fans that this Stadium Tour is ending “no matter what” in August or September of next year, noting, “COVID will not make this Stadium Tour go longer that it has been," although he insists he isn't retiring, he'll just be finding a "different medium than stadiums."
On a positive note, Garth did hint that he will likely be doing some Dive Bar shows, but said it's because since they are small it's easier to require everyone who's attending to be vaccinated.
- ONE MORE THING! Garth did let fans know that if they already bought merch for a show that’s not happening they could send it back “no questions asked.”
