Florida Georgia Line won Top Country Song at the Billboard Music Awards for their Bebe Rexha collaboration “Meant to Be”  and it turns out they set a new record in the process.

This was actually the third time FGL has won Top Country Song, the first time any country artist has won three times in that category. They previously won in 2014 for “Cruise,” featuring Nelly, and 2017’s “H.O.L.Y.”

“It’s always a huge honor to be a part of this night and to be nominated and to be invited to be here,” FGL’s Tyler Hubbard told Billboard on the red carpet prior to the show. “It’s sort of a little tip of the hat, if you will, from the all-genre awards show for us. So we’re excited to be here and represent country music.”

  • The duo also talked about getting to expand their music to other genres, with Tyler sharing, “We're not fans of a genre. We’re just fans of good music. I think there’s room for everybody,” adding that their philosophy is, “Push yourself, make the best music you can possibly make. There’s going to be somebody listening for sure and I think that’s what we try to focus on.”
