When everything shut down in March due to the coronavirus, Dierks Bentley and his family were in Telluride, Colorado, and instead of making their way back to Nashville, they just decided to stay.
“I kind of used it as an opportunity to sneak out there and then we just stayed,” Dierks shares. “So, it’s allowed me – if I’m gonna be unemployed and if I’m gonna have this time, I just wanna be somewhere where I can make up for lost time on the road as far as like mountains and rivers and hiking and biking and family time…which I kind of needed after this many years on the bus and on the road.”
Dierks admits part of it was “trying to make up for the deficit of these last few years,” and he suspects years of touring to come. He adds, . “So, yeah, I’m trying to make the most of the time and it’s definitely been good in that regard, because I’ve been gone – like the song says – a lot.”
