Dan + Shay Surprise Three Families With New Homes

Dan + Shay helped three families celebrate the holidays in a new home. The pair teamed with Safe Haven Family Shelter and surprised three homeless families with starter homes. 

"It was very emotional watching these families’ reactions when they saw their homes for the first time," Dan Smyers tells “People.” "I speak for both of us when I say it was life-changing — it put everything into perspective, and made us truly appreciate all the blessings in our life that we can sometimes take for granted." 

To make the surprise even greater, the duo, who called the collaboration the “highlight of our year,” also recruited Ashley HomeStore to make sure the homes were completely decorated, including décor for the holidays.

As for the recipients Dan shares, “"They were all wonderful people who had been dealt a tough hand and we are glad that we could play a small part in getting them back on their feet,” adding, “Knowing how difficult this season must be for these families, they still had the most positive attitudes and warmest smiles. And that was beyond inspiring."
