As we previously told you, the 12th annual CMA Country Christmas aired last night and it got us all into the holiday spirit!
The show was only an hour-long but included nine fantastic acts, all filled with holiday cheer.
The Pistol Annies (Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley) kicked off the celebration with "Snow Globe," which is one of the 10 tracks they co-wrote for their new holiday album, "Hell of a Holiday," and it gave us quite the '60s vibes. Those '60s vibes continued with Jimmie Allen, Louis York and the Shindellas giving us a Motown version of "What Does Christmas Mean," which Allen and York wrote in 2020.
Carly Pearce and Gabby Barrett then debuted on "Sleigh Ride" which was very reminiscent of the Ronettes' 1963 version. For the song, they teamed up with two student musicians - 17-year old Truman Eltringham and 8-year-old Carter Hammonds. Pearce and Barrett each also sang on their own, with Pearce in a dramatic red gown and opera gloves singing "O Holy Night." Barrett sang her rendition of "Silent Night" dressed in a white pantsuit, but her best accessory was her hubby Cade Foehner on guitar.
Carrie Underwood then took the stage in a breathtaking black gown that actually twinkled as she sang "Mary Did You Know," which was a cut from her holiday album that was recently reissued in deluxe form with three additional tracks.
Lady A performed "Christmas Through Your Eyes" which Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley, and Dave Haywood wrote about their children. Brett Eldredge donned a velvet tuxedo as he sang a song from his brand-new Christmas album, "Merry Christmas, Baby."
Newbies BRELAND sang an R&B reading to "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)" and Lainey Wilson sang a Texas swing version of "Christmas Cookies," which she sang with Jenee Fleenor.
Due to the pandemic, the special was held on a sound stage and did not have a live audience. But the magical, Christmas feel was still there nonetheless.
