Chris Stapleton spent some time with Today's "Sunday Sitdown" this weekend for a wide-ranging discussion about his career beginnings, how far he's come, his new album - and his iconic "Star Spangled Banner" from last February's Super Bowl.
When asked if he was nervous beforehand, he admitted he was "...terrified. Exponentially. Beyond belief. 'The National Anthem''s a hard one - for any singer. I don't care who you are, so - I might have worked on that more than I worked...for any television performance ever." When it was brought up that his version of "Star Spangled Banner" was being mentioned in the same breath as Whitney Houston's legendary 1991 performance as the single greatest Super Bowl Anthem performance, Stapleton wisely responded, "I defer."
