There’s no doubt the combination of Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake is a good one. All you have to do is listen to their collaboration on “Tennessee Whiskey” or “Say Something” from J.T.’s new album “Man of the Woods.” And it sounds like we may see some more music from them in the future.
“We were talking about something earlier today,” Chris tells “Billboard” backstage at Nissan Stadium, where he was performing for CMA Fest. “We just have fun. It looks like the odd couple to most people, but we have a lot of the same musical influences -- old R&B and soul music and things like that. We just enjoy hanging out.”
Chris wouldn’t go into any more details, like whether they’d consider doing a whole album together. He did note, “There will probably always be music being made, whether it’s writing or talking about music or playing music for each other… We’re both at a phase in our life where we want to have fun playing music. That’s why it makes sense."
