Carrie Underwood has made country chart history. The singer’s latest release “Cry Pretty” tops the all-genre “Billboard” 200 Album chart this week, her fourth number one album. The singer moved 266,000 equivalent album units, 251,000 in traditional album sales, to land the number one record.
"This album is so special to me for so many reasons and I couldn’t be more proud that people have embraced it the way they have,” Carrie tells Billboard. “I feel so blessed to be able to do what I do, and I am incredibly grateful for the support of fans around the world that make it all possible.”
With four number one albums, Carrie is now the first country woman to have four albums top the "Billboard" 200 chart. Her previous number ones include 2012’s “Blown Away,” 2009’s “Play On” and 2007’s “Carnival Ride.” Garth Brooks is the overall country artist with the most “Billboard” 200 number ones, with nine.
- But that’s not all. Carrie’s “Cry Pretty” is now the biggest selling record for a female this year, beating out Cardi B, who debuted at number one with 255,000 units in April. It is also the biggest sales week for woman this year, and the biggest sales for a country album since Luke Bryan’s "Kill the Lights" debuted three years ago with 320,000 copies sold.
- Carrie was one of the performers at this weekend's iHeartRadio Festival and it seems her unborn baby had a lot of fun at the show. After performing the tune "Last Name," she told the crowd, "My baby was kicking during that one. My baby likes you guys." Carrie's set featured her latest hits "Cry Pretty" and her new single "Love Wins," and fan favorites like "Church Bells," "Blown Away," "Last Name," and "Before He Cheats."
