“Never Wanted to Be That Girl,” Carly Pearce’s collaboration with Ashley McBryde, has them both singing about a man who has lied to them, and Carly certainly has some experience with that type of man.
Carly says she’s had past relationships with men who just tell lie over lie, noting, “We’ve all experienced people who maybe do keep going,” adding, “And you just think, you know, I’m just gonna sit back and wait just to see how many lies you’re gonna tell, to where you just can’t tell another one.”
When that happens, Carly says her reaction is usually, “I got it. I’ll watch.”
