Ashley McBride, Lindsay Ell, Madie & Tae and Runaway June are helping Song Suffragettes celebrate a century of women's suffrage.
This month is the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th amendment, which gave women the right to vote, and to mark the occasion Song Suffragettes, the female-led songwriting collective, is hosting a month of special digital programming.
The showcases, sponsored by the Women’s Suffrage Centennial Commission, kicked off yesterday with a performance by Lindsay, with new showcases set to take place every Monday. The rest of the lineup is as follows:
- August 10: Maddie & Tae
- August 17: Ashley McBryde
- August 24: Runaway June
Each week the artists will be joined by members of the Song Suffragettes. Mia Morris sat in with Lindsay yesterday, with Carter Faith, Chloe Gilligan, Julie Williams and Raquel Cole also taking part.
