Alan Jackson’s new album “Where Have You Gone” drops today, and, in case you missed it, in an interview with HitsDailyDouble he describes the tunes on the album as “real” country music.

“All the players kept coming up between takes, saying, ‘I can’t tell you how good it feels to play on a real country song,” Alan shares. “So many said, “I don’t get to play on songs like this anymore’”  And that’s not really surprising to Alan, who insists, “country music is gone – and it’s not coming back.”

“It’s like the 1980s again,” Alan says. “It’s not the same, but somebody has to bring it back, because it’s not just people in their 50s, it’s people in their 20s, too. All the kids and young people around my house? The older they’ve got, the more hardcore and traditional what they’ve leaned into has become.”

As for his album, Alan insists, “It’s not old-school, it’s the real school,” noting, “And I’m kinda p***ed off like you are about what’s happened to the format, or whatever they wanna call it.”

  • ONE MORE THING! Alan's fans will want to be sure to tune into "The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon" tonight, because Alan is set to perform on the NBC show.
