Singer Kylie Rae Harris died earlier this month in a car crash in New Mexico, with 16-year-old Maria Elena Cruz, the driver of another vehicle, also dying. Cops at the time said Harris was to blame for the accident, and now they say she was driving over 100 miles per hour when the accident happened.
The Taos County Sheriff's Office says vehicle data recorders show Harris was going 102 miles per hour when she clipped the rear of a black Avalanche, and then veered into the northbound lane. She then collided with Cruz’s Jeep, and she was going 95 mph at the time. Harris reportedly started breaking about three-tenths of a second before making impact.
Alcohol is suspected as a contributing cause of the crash, but police are still waiting for a toxicology report to come in.
