âHe will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.â
He cares about your tears!
The Bible was written by people under the inspiration and guidance of the Holy Spirit. I love that the Bible keeps things real. It doesnât sugar coat them. Unlike Instagram, the Bible doesnât only present us with the good times.
It talks about the pain that people experience.
It talks about Abrahamâs pain of losing Sarah: âAnd Sarah died at Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan, and Abraham went in to mourn for Sarah and to weep for herâ (Genesis 23:2); Mosesâ cry over his sisterâs leprosy, âAnd Moses cried to the Lord, âO God, please heal herâpleaseââ (Numbers 12:13); Hannahâs pain of not having a baby, âShe was deeply distressed and prayed to the Lord and wept bitterlyâ (1 Sam 1:10); Davidâs pain caused by losing Absalom, âAnd the king was deeply moved and went up to the chamber over the gate and wept. And as he went, he said, âO my son Absalom, my son, my son Absalom! Would I had died instead of you, O Absalom, my son, my son!ââ (2 Sam 18: 33); Jesusâ pain at Lazarusâ grave, âJesus weptâ (John 11:35).
It captures Maryâs pain at the tomb of Jesus, âBut Mary was standing outside the tomb weeping; and so, as she wept, she stooped and looked into the tomb;â (John 20:11) and Paulâs tears when he writes to the Corinthians âFor out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote to you with many tearsâ (2 Corinthians 2:4).
Just as God kept an account of peopleâs tears in the Bible, he keeps an account of your tears. Psalm 56:8 says âYou have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle; Are they not in your book?â
Whatever struggle you are going through today, know that God sees you. He sees your pain, he sees your tossing, and he sees every single tear that you cry. And the day will come when God himself will wipe away every one of those tears.
Revelation 7: 17 assures us, âFor the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.â
