Willie Nelson Enlists Friends For His Annual 4th Of July Picnic

Willie Nelson held his annual 4th of July Picnic in Austin, Texas, Thursday, featuring a lineup that included Luke Combs, making his Picnic debut, as well as Alison Krauss, Jamey Johnson, Billy Joe Shaver, Steve Earle & the Dukes, and Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats.

Willie treated the crowd to a set that included such songs as “Whiskey River,” “On the Road Again,” “Jambalaya (On the Bayou)” and “Hey Good Lookin,’” while Luke’s set was filled with hits, including “Beautiful Crazy,” “Hurricane” and the new single, “Beer Never Broke My Heart.”

Other performances from the Picnic include Jamey, performing a cover of Woody Guthrie’s ”This Land Is Your Land,” and Krauss performing “Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground.” Check out the performances to the right.

  • As for Luke certainly he was awestruck to be performing at Willie’s show. He later posted a photo on Insta with Willie, captioning it, “Literally doesn’t get any cooler.”
  • In other Willie news…the singer’s hemp-infused product line Willie’s Remedy just introduced two new items, Willie’s Remedy Relief Balm and Willie’s Remedy Tea. Both are available now online and in select stores.
